Governor Mara Lezama returns ten stolen vehicles in Cancún

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa handed back ten stolen vehicles – eight motorcycles and two automobiles – to their owners at the C5 facilities in Cancún, Quintana Roo. The recoveries were made possible by coordinated police work, the state’s Security Mesa, and the use of surveillance cameras, road‑side arches and other technology.

Each owner received a geolocation chip to help locate the vehicle if it is stolen again, and the new protocol keeps recovered vehicles in official custody rather than sending them to impound lots, reducing costs and delays for victims. Lezama urged citizens to file formal complaints, noting that the reports enabled rapid activation of search protocols and have already led to arrests and prosecutions of the thieves.

The event highlights the administration’s focus on leveraging technology and encouraging public reporting to combat vehicle theft in Quintana Roo.
