Mexico's Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos addresses displacement in Cinco Llagas

Governor Maru Campos met with the state Commission for Internal Forced Displacement to review the situation of families forced from Cinco Llagas, in the municipality of Guadalupe y Calvo, after recent violence and loss of basic services. The displaced families have been sheltered at the Albergue del Niño in Baborigame, where they receive food and essential assistance while authorities determine their next steps.

The State Public Security Secretariat, headed by Gilberto Loya, launched an integrated humanitarian operation. Police units arrived on 4 July, installed a satellite‑internet antenna, delivered food kits, and used helicopters to air‑lift additional supplies. State agents also escorted Federal Electricity Commission crews to restore power in the community. Fifteen residents were evacuated to Chihuahua City for protection and care. The governor instructed state agencies—including the Fiscalía, the State Investigation Agency, and the Secretariat for Indigenous Peoples—to coordinate joint security actions with municipal and federal authorities to re‑establish peace and safety in the area.
