Tierra del Fuego Governor defends educational financing bill

In Tierra del Fuego, Governor Gustavo Melella is defending a proposed Integral Educational Financing Law against opposition criticism. Melella rejected claims that the initiative constitutes a massive tax hike, arguing instead that it is necessary to secure funds for public services and salary demands. He specifically proposed reviewing tax exemptions for large corporations, such as Camuzzi, to ensure a fairer distribution of resources.

Legislator Matías Lapadula has challenged the project, citing inconsistencies between the proposed 40% budget increase and the estimated revenue, which he claims falls short of the necessary goals. He warned that the plan could create economic uncertainty and increase the tax burden on municipalities and local businesses.

Separately, former Salta Governor Juan Manuel Urtubey has criticized the Argentine national government for failing to comply with the University Financing Law. Urtubey stated that the executive branch is disregarding judicial rulings and congressional laws, which he argues undermines legal certainty and the foundations of democracy.
