Governor Melella urges SUTEF to end teacher strike

Governor Gustavo Melella has called on the leadership of the SUTEF union to end the indefinite strike by teachers. Melella urged the union to return to the negotiating table to discuss salary improvements through collective bargaining.

The Governor stated that the current strike primarily affects families and students, particularly those from vulnerable sectors who rely on schools for more than just education, including food security. He noted that the provincial government has presented a financing initiative to secure more resources for teacher salaries, but emphasized that there are economic limits to what the state can provide.
