Mato Grosso governor seeks $1.5 bn loan to fund 60,000 new homes

Governor Otaviano Pivetta delivered a bill to the Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly proposing that the state obtain a R$ 1.5 billion loan from Caixa Econômica Federal. The financing is intended to replace funds that will expire at the end of the year and to keep ongoing infrastructure projects on schedule while enabling the construction of 60,000 additional homes under the SER Família Habitação program. The proposal also earmarks part of the loan for basic‑health services in municipalities. Pivetta said the operation demonstrates the state’s fiscal health and will allow the continuation of road‑building, bridge works and other public works while meeting the historic demand for affordable housing. Assembly president Max Russi confirmed the bill will receive priority treatment, noting the project's social impact and the need to address the long‑standing housing shortage across Mato Grosso.
