Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani announced that the executive chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, Jerry Adams, will be his running‑mate for the 2027 governorship election. The nomination ends the Muslim‑Muslim ticket used in the 2019 and 2023 elections and introduces the first Christian deputy candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress in seven years. Sani said the choice follows wide consultations, deep reflection and prayers and reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness and equity. Adams, a Southern Kaduna indigene, is described as an accomplished public servant who has transformed KADIRS into a respected revenue agency and boosted internally generated revenue, enabling greater investment in education, health, infrastructure and agriculture. The move also responds to constitutional term limits that prevent incumbent Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe from seeking a third term, and is expected to strengthen the party’s appeal in Southern Kaduna, a key electoral bloc.
