Goya tapestries arrive in Argentina for historic exhibition

Two original tapestries by Francisco de Goya have arrived in Argentina for a historic exhibition at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. This marks the first time these specific works have left Spain to be exhibited in Latin America.

The monumental pieces, titled ‘La cometa’ (1776-1778) and ‘La gallina ciega’ (1788), are part of the Spanish Royal Collections. Designed in a Rococo style, the tapestries depict scenes of daily life and popular games on the outskirts of Madrid. The exhibition is free to the public and is scheduled to remain on display in a special room at the museum until January 2027.
