Goyang and Anyang hold ceremonies for 81st Liberation Day

Goyang and Anyang cities held ceremonies to commemorate the 81st Liberation Day, honoring the sacrifices of independence activists and patriots.

In Goyang, Mayor Min Kyung-seon led a ceremony attended by approximately 300 people, including members of the Liberation Association and veterans' organizations. The event highlighted local independence history, specifically mentioning figures such as Dongam Jang Hyo-geun and Yanggok Lee Ga-sun, as well as the Seonsang Manse Movement. Mayor Min emphasized the city's commitment to developing future industries like aerospace, bio-medical, and K-culture to build a self-sufficient city.

In Anyang, Mayor Choe Dae-ho presided over a ceremony attended by about 600 citizens and officials. The event included performances by the Capital Corps military band and the Anyang Municipal Children's Choir. To engage the public, the city also hosted digital exhibitions and photo zones, including a presentation on Kim Gu and a photo exhibition of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.
