Goyang Special City celebrates Citizen's Day with future industry vision

Goyang Special City held its 2026 Citizen's Day celebrations at Goyang Aram Nuri, featuring a commemorative ceremony, walking events, and various cultural experiences for approximately 3,000 residents.

During the ceremony, Mayor Min Kyung-sun outlined the strategic direction for the ninth popularly elected administration, emphasizing three core pillars: communication, quality jobs, and people. Mayor Min expressed a commitment to narrowing the distance between the government and its citizens through initiatives like town hall meetings and direct communication channels.

To drive economic growth and attract youth, the Mayor identified aerospace, medical bio-industry, and cultural content as the city's three key future industries. The administration aims to integrate these sectors with a ‘Global AI Hub’ to establish Goyang as a global standard city for artificial intelligence. The event also included awards for exemplary citizens who have contributed to the local community.
