Goyang Special City launches climate change education program

Goyang Special City has launched the ‘2026 Climate and Environment School’ to promote practical responses to the climate crisis. The opening ceremony, held at the Goyang Arts Center, was attended by approximately 200 citizens and public officials.

Under the theme ‘Our Transition in the Era of Climate Crisis,’ the six-week program will run every Tuesday until September 29. The curriculum includes expert-led sessions on topics such as climate risks facing citizens and businesses, ecosystem changes, social solidarity for overcoming climate crises, and sustainable consumption.

Mayor Min Kyung-sun emphasized that solutions to climate disasters lie in the ‘practical transition’ of changing daily habits rather than grand slogans. The city aims to build a ‘Goyang-style environmental education system’ that spans all life stages, from infants to adults, to foster a sustainable, carbon-neutral city.
