GP practices expand capacity with AI triage and new facilities

Langton Medical Group, a three‑site practice serving around 14,000 patients in Lichfield, began using the GP Triage autonomous AI platform in October 2025. After five months the system removed roughly 30 hours of GP‑led triage each week – the equivalent of four full GP sessions – and generated weekly savings of about £3,000, equating to roughly £163,000 a year.

Burnley Wood Medical Centre, which serves about 6,900 patients in Burnley, received planning‑committee approval for a large single‑storey extension. The build will add four new consultation rooms and a staff training area, upgrade the entrance and waiting room, and increase the practice’s capacity. Local residents raised concerns over privacy and parking, but the development will result in only a minimal net loss of one parking space.

Both developments illustrate efforts by UK primary‑care providers to increase patient access and reduce administrative burdens through technology and infrastructure expansion.
