GPS leadership to determine candidate selection for Sarawak election

The leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will decide on candidate selection for the upcoming Sarawak state election, including whether to field new candidates or retain incumbents. Sarawak Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah stated he is prepared to step down after serving five terms, though he noted the final decision rests with the party leadership and the Sarawak Premier.

Separately, GPS Backbenchers Club chairman Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman has urged elected representatives to focus on how government policies tangibly improve lives rather than relying solely on development projects and figures. He emphasized that representatives must demonstrate how they have fulfilled the expectations of their communities and addressed local problems to maintain voter support.
