GPS technology aids police in tracking stolen goods in Paraguay and Argentina
GPS technology and smart devices have assisted police in tracking suspects and recovering stolen property in separate incidents in Paraguay and Argentina.
In Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay, police located a suspect, Nimio de Jesús Canales Ferreira, after a victim activated the GPS signal on a stolen mobile phone. Officers patrolling the area identified Ferreira in possession of the phone and a stolen wallet.
In Rosario, Argentina, authorities used a smartwatch with geolocation capabilities to track the movement of stolen goods following a burglary at Hostal del Sol. After the victim activated the device's tracking feature, police followed the signal to the República de la Sexta neighborhood, where they recovered part of the stolen loot, including jewelry and cash.
