GPU prices surge due to DRAM shortage and manufacturer hikes

Graphics card manufacturers are implementing significant price increases across several GPU series, driven by a widespread shortage of DRAM memory. Major brands including ASUS, MSI, and GIGABYTE are raising prices, following reports of NVIDIA increasing costs for GPU and memory packages provided to partners.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB has seen one of the most dramatic shifts, with prices on some platforms nearly doubling from an initial official list price of approximately 371 EUR to around 730 EUR. MSI has announced price hikes exceeding 20% across various models, ranging from the RTX 50 series to older RTX 30 series cards. Specific increases include up to 300 USD for the RTX 5080 and over 200 USD for the RTX 5070 Ti.

Industry forecasts suggest that the DRAM shortage may persist, with some manufacturers predicting supply constraints continuing through 2027 and 2028. These market shifts are particularly impacting the mid-range segment, which historically offered the best balance of performance and cost.
