Grab driver assaulted in Đắk Lắk after refusing intoxicated passenger

Police in Buôn Ma Thuột, Đắk Lắk, are investigating an assault on a 25-year-old Grab driver that occurred on October 18. The incident began when the driver, identified as Đ. P. N., arrived to pick up a passenger but declined the trip after observing that the individual appeared intoxicated and was sitting on the ground. Fearing for safety during the 16km journey, the driver suggested the booking be canceled and offered to help the group call a taxi instead.

A verbal dispute ensued, leading to a physical altercation. Video footage circulating on social media shows individuals in purple and red clothing attacking the driver, with one man pinning him to the ground despite attempts by bystanders to intervene. The driver reported being struck in the head, neck, and sides.

Authorities have summoned two men, aged 39 and 40, for questioning. Both individuals reportedly admitted that the conflict arose from alcohol consumption and verbal arguments. Police are currently determining the extent of the driver's injuries to establish the appropriate legal basis for prosecution.
