Grab fined 1.36 billion VND for consumer protection violations in Vietnam

Vietnam's National Competition Commission imposed a fine of 1.36 billion VND on Grab for six breaches of consumer‑protection rules. The violations included not giving consumers a choice to allow data sharing, inserting prohibited clauses in nationwide general terms, failing to disclose influencer sponsorships, not fully displaying ratings, lacking specific timing for general terms, and not informing vulnerable consumers about protective policies.

The regulator ordered Grab to cease the infringing practices, review and improve its policies, and ensure full compliance with consumer‑rights legislation. Grab reported that it promptly corrected the issues and paid the penalty. The company operates ride‑hailing, food delivery, grocery, and courier services across Vietnam.
