Grabow holiday village on Rügen becomes a lost place

The former holiday village in Grabow, located on the Zudar Peninsula in southern Rügen, has become a well-known "lost place."

Originally opened in 1976, the site served as a company holiday resort for the VEB Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau Dresden, a significant furniture and interior design manufacturer in the GDR. The facility was designed to provide affordable vacations for employees and their families through the FDGB (Free German Trade Union Federation) holiday system. The complex featured various bungalows, a communal dining area, and shared facilities, characterized by the functional, nature-oriented architecture typical of 1970s East German holiday culture.
