Grace Kelley denied temporary release to give birth while in jail

Grace Kelley, daughter of country music star Wynonna Judd, has been denied a request for a temporary furlough to give birth to her second child. Kelley is currently serving a 15-month sentence at the Rockingham County Jail in Harrisonburg, Virginia, following a guilty plea to a felony charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Court documents indicate that Kelley’s legal team requested release for an expected delivery around August 16. A judge denied the petition on July 16, ruling that she must remain in custody. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office will instead escort her to the hospital for a scheduled cesarean section.

Legal filings also highlight a significant rift within the family, stating that Kelley has ‘no contact with her biological family in Tennessee’ and receives no support from her mother, Wynonna Judd. Judd has been the primary caretaker for Kelley’s first daughter, Kaliyah Grace, on her Tennessee farm. Kelley is scheduled for release on November 16, after which she will serve five years of probation.
