Grace Nortey, legendary Ghanaian actress, passes away

The family of veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Nortey has requested privacy following her death on August 6, 2026, at the University of Ghana Medical Center. In a press release, the family expressed gratitude for the condolences received while asking for space to mourn the matriarch, who had a career spanning over five decades in Ghana’s theatre, television, and film industries.

Fellow actress Grace Omaboe, known as Maame Dokono, expressed deep grief over the loss of her longtime friend and colleague. Omaboe recalled their decades-long professional and personal bond, noting Nortey’s kindness and her role as a supportive mentor within the industry. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
