Grace Owoola Oyin-Adejobi marks 96th birthday with biography launch

Veteran Nollywood actress Grace Owoola Oyin-Adejobi, widely known as Iya Osogbo, has celebrated her 96th birthday with the launch of her biography in Ibadan. The book, titled ‘Grace Owoola Oyin-Adejobi: Iya Osogbo, The Track of a Nigerian Theatre Icon’, chronicles her extensive career and contributions to Nigerian theatre, television, and film.

Born in Osogbo, Osun State, Oyin-Adejobi began her acting career in 1953 with the Oyin Adejobi Theatre Company, founded by her late husband, Chief Oyin Adejobi. She is recognized as a significant figure from the era of travelling theatre and stage performances that preceded the rise of Nollywood. Over her seven-decade career, she has appeared in more than 300 stage plays, as well as various films and television productions, including the Nigerian Television Authority production ‘Kòòtù Asipa’.
