Graciela Echenique requests extension of Uruguay Impulsa program

Graciela Echenique, a national representative for Cerro Largo, has formally requested the extension of the Uruguay Impulsa program, which is currently scheduled to conclude in October. In a written submission to the Chamber of Representatives, Echenique addressed several government bodies, including the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the Congress of Intendants.

The Uruguay Impulsa program, formerly known as Jornales Solidarios, is a socio-labor initiative designed to create temporary employment opportunities while providing human resources to local departments and municipalities across the country. Echenique emphasized that the program provides essential income for families to meet basic needs and supports social integration, dignity, and emotional health.

Beyond the economic impact on participants, the legislator noted that the program serves as a vital support system for local governments that often face limited personnel to address community demands. She urged authorities to analyze alternatives to ensure the program's continuity rather than allowing it to end this month.
