Graeme Souness to climb UK peaks for EB charity
Former Rangers and Liverpool manager Graeme Souness is undertaking a major fundraising challenge to support DEBRA UK, a charity aiding those with epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Known as ‘butterfly skin’, EB is a group of rare genetic conditions that cause skin to blister and tear easily.
Over three days this September, Souness intends to climb the highest peaks in Scotland, Wales, and England—Ben Nevis, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), and Scafell Pike—while also completing three high-altitude open-water swims.
The goal is to raise at least £500,000 to fund clinical trials and help develop effective drug treatments for the condition. This effort is part of DEBRA UK’s £20 million ‘Stop the Pain’ appeal, which focuses on improving care and accelerating wound-healing treatments.
