Grafton child death investigation reveals systematic neglect

A five-year-old boy has died in Grafton, New South Wales, following the discovery of what investigators describe as a systematic pattern of child neglect and torture. On Monday, October 12, emergency services were called to a residence where the child was found unconscious. Despite resuscitation efforts by police and paramedics, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police investigations revealed that the children in the household, including the victim who had developmental disabilities, were being placed in sleeping bags and tightly wrapped with industrial duct tape, sometimes with their eyes covered. Caregivers reportedly claimed this was a method used to “help them sleep.”

NSW Police have established a dedicated task force, Strike Force Milona, to investigate the death. Reports indicate the family was already being monitored by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) prior to the incident. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
