Graham Potter sparks backlash with comments on former clubs

Sweden national team manager Graham Potter has faced backlash following social media comments directed at his former employers, West Ham United and Chelsea.

During an Instagram exchange involving a video of himself performing Pilates, a supporter mocked Potter’s managerial record. Potter responded by stating, “I’ll try not to do Pilates in a dysfunctional place and I will be okay,” a remark widely interpreted as a critique of the working environments at his previous clubs.

Potter’s tenure at West Ham ended in 2025 following a difficult period that saw the club struggle in the Premier League and eventually face relegation. His previous stint at Chelsea concluded in April 2023 after seven months. Potter has since transitioned to international management, recently leading Sweden to the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
