Grain markets see price shifts as wheat futures decline

Global grain markets have experienced price fluctuations, with wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) dropping to approximately $258.40 per ton for December delivery. While corn and soybean prices saw modest recoveries on Friday, wheat continued to lose ground.

In Romania, wheat prices at the Port of Constanța (FOB) were recorded at 223.49 euro per ton for the week of September 14-20. However, local silo prices in the Banat region were significantly lower at 190.24 euro per ton. Corn prices in Romania showed regional variation, with rates in Banat, Muntenia, and Oltenia ranging from approximately 180 to 205 euro per ton.

On the Sofia Stock Exchange, analysts noted a general decline in grain prices. Chicago wheat prices reached a four-week low, while corn futures traded between $207 and $214 per ton on the CBOT. Additionally, sugar prices saw a decline due to weak physical demand, with raw sugar trading around $392 per ton in New York.
