Gramado Film Festival adds João Rubio Rubinato short and premieres award‑winning 'Cinco Tipos de Medo

The short film 씨발 (Shibal), written and directed by João Rubio Rubinato, has been selected for the Competitive Short‑Film Program of the 2026 Gramado Film Festival. It will be screened on 17 August at the Palácio dos Festivais. Produced by IPA Filmes with co‑production by Tanto Filmes, Negativo Filmes and Runner Filmes, the 16 mm film portrays a day in the life of a São Paulo gravurista amid the bustling Bom Retiro Korean community.

Brazilian feature Cinco Tipos de Medo, winner of four Kikitos at the 53rd Gramado Festival in 2025, is now available on Telecine. Directed and written by Bruno Bini, the movie stars Bella Campos, Xamã, João Vitor Silva, Bárbara Colen and Rui Ricardo Diaz. It debuted on Telecine Premium on 1 August, with additional broadcast on Telecine Pipoca on 2 August, and is streaming via Globoplay and Prime Video from 31 July.

Both projects highlight the festival’s role in promoting contemporary Brazilian cinema, from emerging short‑form works to acclaimed full‑length features.
