Gramado hosts international meeting on creative economy

The First International Meeting of Cities is being held in Gramado, Brazil, from August 12 to 14. The event, held in conjunction with the Gramado Film Market, brings together municipal authorities and representatives from Brazilian and Ibero-American cities to discuss the creative economy and the audiovisual industry as drivers for social and economic development.

Key participants include representatives from Medellín, Colombia, which will present its experience using the creative economy for urban transformation. Gramado will also be highlighted as a model for how a film festival can transform a town into a major tourist destination. The 10th edition of the Gramado Film Market features panels and business sessions with executives from major companies, including Amazon MGM Studios, Globo Filmes, Globoplay, and O2 Filmes.

Discussions focus on public policy, financing, distribution, technological innovation, and the impact of digital changes on the audiovisual sector. The event coincides with the 54th Gramado Film Festival, which supports the local economy in the Serra Gaúcha region through tourism in the hospitality and service sectors.
