Grameen Kalyan ordered to pay 666 crore BDT in taxes

The High Court has ruled that Grameen Kalyan, an organization founded by Nobel laureate and former Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, must pay 666 crore BDT in taxes. The court directed the institution to settle this amount over the next three fiscal years.

The dispute originated from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) re-assessing tax claims for several fiscal years between 2012 and 2017. After previous legal proceedings and a reassignment of the case to a new bench due to conflict of interest concerns, the court issued its final verdict on Thursday.
