Grammy Awards voting begins for 69th annual ceremony

Voting for the 69th Grammy Awards has commenced, with first-round ballots sent to Recording Academy members on October 12. The voting process for 95 of the 100 categories is currently underway, while the remaining five categories are determined by committees. Nominees are scheduled to be announced on November 16, ahead of the ceremony on February 7, 2027.

Entry numbers show significant variation across categories. The Song of the Year category is the most populated with 923 entries, while Best Opera Recording has the fewest with 43. In the General Field, entries for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist have all seen decreases compared to the previous year. Conversely, entries for Producer of the Year (non-classical) and Songwriter of the Year (non-classical) have increased.

The Academy has introduced four new categories this year: Best Latin Song, which received 519 entries; Best Traditional Pop Performance, with 211 entries; Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance, with 168 entries; and Best Asian Pop Performance, with 116 entries. Additionally, the folk category has been split into Best Contemporary Folk Album and Best Traditional Folk Album.
