Gran Canaria advances plan for new 96-bed geriatric center

The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has declared a new geriatric care project in the south of the island to be of public and social interest. Located in the Ayagaures ravine within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the project is promoted by the private company Lorenzo Pérez Domínguez, S. L. (DOPESA).

The facility is designed to provide 96 care places, including integrated day center services, and is expected to create 32 jobs. This administrative step follows reports indicating a shortage of geriatric facilities in the area, which is characterized by high tourism and an aging population. While the declaration is a significant administrative milestone, it does not yet constitute a municipal license or the commencement of construction.
