Gran Casino de la Rabassada history explored in new book
The release of the revised book ‘El Gran Casino de la Rabassada. Història d'un somni burgès’ by Pere Fàbregas i Margarit and Carlota Giménez i Compte explores the history of a once-luxurious complex in Sant Cugat del Vallès.
Originally a high-end gambling space and amusement park, the site served as a meeting point for the Catalan bourgeoisie during the early 20th century. While its tenure as a casino was brief, lasting just over a year, the complex functioned as an amusement park for a longer period before eventually declining and facing demolition.
The 10-hectare estate is located within the Collserola Natural Park. Recent discussions regarding the sale of the property have sparked debate over its potential future uses and the possibility of public acquisition, given the land-use restrictions imposed by its location in the natural park.
