Gran Concurso del Hormigón holds national final in Spain
The third edition of the Gran Concurso del Hormigón (Great Concrete Competition) held its national final in El Escorial, bringing together students from 31 provinces to promote the technical architecture profession. The competition involved 8,494 students from 988 educational centers across Spain.
In a specialized category for audiovisual works documenting the concrete production process, the IES José Cadalso from San Roque won a 2,000 euro prize, scoring 98 points and surpassing competitors from Cantabria and Navarra.
In the technical phase, teams consisting of four students and one teacher manufactured concrete specimens to be tested in a laboratory. The final results of these technical tests are expected to be announced on October 21. The competition, which originated as a pilot project by the Colegio de la Arquitectura Técnica de Navarra, has expanded significantly to increase the visibility of technical architecture among young students.
