Italy advances regional sustainable mobility and rail infrastructure projects

Various regional infrastructure projects are advancing across Italy to promote sustainable mobility and tourism. In the Abruzzo region, the Gran Sasso Natural Cycle Path is under development. With an investment of approximately 1.68 million euros, the project aims to create a 56-kilometer network of white roads to connect villages such as Castel del Monte, Calascio, Barisciano, Castelvecchio Calvisio, and Santo Stefano di Sessanio. The first 24 kilometers are nearing completion, providing an alternative to standard road traffic.

In Puglia, the regional government is focusing on the management and maintenance of existing cycle paths, including the Gargano GAG, the Adriatic Cycle Path, and the Salento cycle path. An investment of over 26 million euros is planned to connect these infrastructures into a unified regional network to support local economies.

In Campania, work continues on the Cancello-Benevento railway line. Following clarifications from regional authorities, the goal is to complete construction by December 2026, with the aim of resuming service in the early months of 2027. This project involves over 170 million euros in investments for technological upgrades and safety improvements. Additionally, Italo has announced the return of rail services to Pavia starting October 1, connecting the city to major hubs like Rome and Naples.

In the Marche region, construction is nearing completion on a cycle path segment in Sforzacosta, part of a larger 40-kilometer ring project expected to be finished by September 2027.
