Gran Sasso Tunnel nightly closures on A24 toward Teramo

The Gran Sasso Tunnel on the A24 motorway will undergo nightly closures for mandatory safety inspections. The closures are scheduled for five consecutive nights, from September 7 to September 11, between 22:00 and 06:00.

The restrictions specifically affect the eastbound lane (carreggiata est) heading toward Teramo, on the stretch between the Assergi and Colledara/San Gabriele junctions. Drivers traveling from L’Aquila, the A25, or Rome toward Teramo will be required to exit the A24 at the Assergi junction.

Strada dei Parchi has suggested several alternative routes for travelers, particularly for heavy vehicles heading toward Teramo or Giulianova. Options include using the A25 toward Pescara and connecting via the A14, or utilizing the SS17 and SS153 through the Piana di Navelli to reach the A25. Another alternative involves the SS80 via Valico delle Capannelle, though travelers are cautioned that the SS80 is currently subject to construction work that may cause additional delays.
