Granada and Chengdu finalize sister city agreement

Granada Mayor Marifrán Carazo met with an institutional delegation from the Chinese city of Chengdu, led by Li Ming, Deputy Director General of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, to finalize a sister city agreement. The two cities are currently drafting a memorandum to formalize this institutional relationship following months of joint work.

The partnership aims to establish stable collaboration in several key sectors, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and health sciences. The agreement seeks to foster relationships between companies and research centers, promote cultural and tourism exchanges, and encourage academic cooperation between universities and technology parks.

In addition to scientific cooperation, the cities intend to collaborate on smart city research, focusing on applying new technologies to urban management and public services. During their visit, the Chengdu delegation also participated in the IV Artificial Intelligence Congress of Andalusia and held meetings with the University of Granada and local technology park foundations.
