Granada begins construction of new urban park in Plaza del Minarete

The Granada City Council has launched construction to transform a 1,882-square-meter unused municipal plot in the Genil neighborhood into a new urban park. Located between Almenara and Acequia streets, the project aims to recover a degraded area and convert it into a functional public space.

The new park will feature inclusive children's playgrounds, green zones, a calisthenics sports area, and rest spaces connected by pedestrian paths. Key installations include 28 trees, three pergolas providing 75 square meters of shade, and LED lighting. The children's area will occupy approximately 150 square meters and include a thematic structure called ‘Átomo’ and an inclusive carousel adapted for wheelchairs.

Work is being executed by Albaida Infraestructuras. The project also addresses previous accessibility issues by implementing level entrances and paved pedestrian walkways.
