Natural disasters strike Argentina and Spain
Severe weather and seismic activity have caused significant disruption in Argentina and Spain.
In Argentina, a powerful storm involving heavy hail and strong winds struck the southern region of Santa Fe, particularly affecting Las Rosas and San Genaro. The storm caused damage to over 50 homes, including roof collapses and fallen trees. Emergency services, including Civil Protection and local firefighters, have been deployed to assist affected families and clear roads. In Entre Ríos, intense hail also impacted agricultural producers, damaging livestock feed reserves.
In Spain, the province of Granada and its metropolitan area have experienced a continuous series of earthquakes. Some tremors exceeded a magnitude of 4, resulting in structural cracks in buildings and necessitating inspections by municipal technicians. In response to the seismic activity, the city of La Zubia has accelerated the demolition of older, unstable buildings to ensure public safety. Additionally, a minor earthquake was recorded in Murcia near Cehegín, though no significant damage was reported there.
