Spain: Multiple arrests following bank robbery and weapon threats
The Guardia Civil has arrested a 51-year-old man in Alcoi following a bank robbery in Cocentaina. Under 'Operation Colatro', investigators used security footage to identify the suspect, who allegedly used a firearm to intimidate employees and steal 1,500 euros. The suspect was found in a park with what appeared to be a simulated firearm and has been placed in provisional prison.
In a separate incident in the Altiplano region of Granada, a 25-year-old man was detained for threatening a man with a compressed gas pistol. The investigation was triggered by a social media video showing the suspect pointing the weapon at the victim's head during a dispute. The weapon, which lacked proper documentation, was seized by authorities.
Additionally, two masked individuals armed with a shotgun robbed a Correos Express facility in Jerez de la Frontera. The attackers threatened employees just before closing time and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The National Police are currently reviewing security footage to identify the suspects.
