Seville and Huelva olive producers defrauded of 1.7 million euros
The Guardia Civil has arrested an individual linked to the table olive business sector for an alleged massive fraud affecting 258 producers and farmers in the provinces of Seville and Huelva. Under the investigation known as Operation Alxaraf Proditio Olea, authorities determined that the suspect obtained harvests by projecting a false appearance of solvency and promising payment after commercialization.
In reality, the suspect allegedly resold the olives to third-party distribution companies and collected the payments without transferring the funds to the primary producers. To maintain the victims' trust, the suspect reportedly used tactics such as making repeated payment promises, announcing imminent financing, and issuing promissory notes that were later returned due to insufficient funds.
The investigation, led by the ROCA Team in Sanlúcar la Mayor, involved a detailed analysis of contracts, invoices, delivery notes, and bank documents. During the exploitation phase, judicial searches were conducted in Olivares and Albaida del Aljarafe, resulting in the seizure of high-end vehicles, luxury watches, gold and silver ingots, and various electronic devices.
