Granada prison inmates sleep at home following earthquakes

Over one hundred inmates at the Centro de Inserción Social (CIS) in Granada have been sleeping in their homes rather than the facility for six days following a series of earthquakes on August 18.

The facility, which focuses on social reintegration for those in third-degree or open regimes, was evacuated due to damage caused by the seismic activity in the Granada metropolitan area. According to the CSIF union, the inmates are currently under telemetric supervision to ensure compliance with their sentences while the building remains uninhabitable.

Only one inmate has slept at the facility since the tremors began. The inmates are expected to return to the center this coming Monday.
