Granada PSOE proposes new waste tax incentives

The PSOE municipal group in Granada has submitted four allegations regarding the waste tax ordinance for the upcoming fiscal year. Councilman Jacobo Calvo criticized the current administration's approach, arguing that the tax lacks environmental principles by applying a broad territorial distribution rather than rewarding individual recycling efforts.

The socialist proposals include linking waste tax receipts to water consumption and increasing taxation on the more than 3,300 tourist rental properties. They also suggest implementing a system similar to the ‘Reciclos’ program, where citizens could receive reductions in their tax percentage based on accumulated recycling points.

Additionally, the PSOE expressed dissatisfaction with the waste collection contractor, FCC, noting that promised technological improvements, such as sensorized containers and personalized access, have not yet been implemented.
