La Carrera Panamericana 2026 to traverse 170 Mexican municipalities

The 39th modern edition of La Carrera Panamericana is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 22, 2026. The race will cover approximately 3,900 kilometers across more than 170 municipalities in Mexico, starting in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, and concluding in Zacatecas.

The route includes speed sections totaling over 530 kilometers and transit sections of about 3,300 kilometers. The itinerary will pass through Veracruz, Mexico City, Puebla, Querétaro, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosí, with Morelos joining the route for the first time.

Organizers highlighted the event's potential to drive economic development and sports tourism. Current champion Ricardo Cordero is seeking his eighth title, which would set a new record for the most victories in the competition's history. The Sport & Classic Tour category will compete under a regularity rally format this year to increase technical demands.
