Granada to host Emergency Day to promote public safety
The Granada City Council will host the ‘Emergency Day’ on Sunday, October 18, from 11:00 to 14:00 at Paseo del Salón. The event aims to introduce citizens to the capabilities and procedures of local emergency services to strengthen a culture of prevention and self-protection.
Organized under the slogan ‘Resilience begins at home,’ the initiative aligns with the United Nations International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and is part of the municipal ‘Granada se protege’ program. The day will feature informative stands and exhibitions of vehicles and equipment from the Local Police, Firefighters, and Civil Protection, including rescue vehicles, ambulances, and communication gear.
Activities include practical first aid workshops led by 061 and Civil Protection professionals, covering CPR, the use of automated external defibrillators (AED), the Heimlich maneuver, and the recovery position. Additionally, theatrical scenarios will be staged to teach children how to react to earthquakes, floods, fires, or emergencies in crowded spaces and extreme heat.
