Grand Bahama Port Authority invests $1 million in Freeport road resurfacing

The Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) has announced an investment of approximately $1 million for road resurfacing works across Freeport. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to maintain and enhance the city’s road network, following more than $1.6 million invested in similar projects over the last two years.

The upcoming works will target several key roadways and intersections, including Summerville Turning Lane, Anita Doherty (Beach Way), Bonita Road (Phase 2), Pioneers Loop Road, East Mall Drive/North Regency Boulevard, Young Husband Drive, East Sunrise Highway, Squash Road, and Queen’s Highway.

Three local contractors—Bahamas Hot Mix, Waugh Construction, and Freeport Construction—will undertake the projects. Work is expected to begin shortly, weather permitting, with an anticipated completion date by the end of November 2026.
