Grand Bahama swimmers secure fourth consecutive Goodwill Championship title

The Grand Bahama aquatics team was welcomed home at Western Air Airport following a fourth consecutive victory at the 30th Goodwill Swimming Championships in Trinidad and Tobago. Team Bahamas secured the championship title with a total of 1,378 points, earning 41 gold, 40 silver, and 41 bronze medals. Grand Bahama athletes contributed 19 medals to this total, including multiple golds from Helsinki Mitchell and Da’Kari Cooper.

Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey, expressed pride in the athletes and noted government efforts to support swimming through facilities like the Grand Bahama Aquatics Centre. Deputy Director of Sports Norris Bain also commended the team for the achievement of securing four consecutive titles.

In related regional news, Trinidad and Tobago has been selected to host the 31st edition of the Goodwill Swimming Championships in August 2027. The Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) announced that the country will host several major regional competitions in 2027, including the CARIFTA Championships and the Pan American Under-15 Water Polo Tournament.
