Grand Central Bakery recalls potato sourdough bread due to metal contamination

Grand Central Bakery has issued a recall for 517 loaves of potato sourdough bread following the discovery of a pallet nail inside a loaf. The recall affects three specific products: the 20-ounce Potato Market Loaf (UPC 733163001576), the 20-ounce Potato Table Loaf, and the 12-ounce Mini Potato Loaf.

The affected products were distributed on August 10 across the Seattle and Tacoma areas to grocery stores, wholesalers, restaurants, and company cafes. Because some items were sold unpackaged, they may lack lot codes; consumers are advised to discard any potato sourdough bread purchased on that date.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported. The FDA noted that the presence of metal fragments poses a physical hazard that could cause dental damage, cuts, or internal injuries. The bakery traced the issue to a single batch of dough mixed on the morning of distribution.
