Grand-Figeac launches campaign to restore Resistance memorial site

Grand-Figeac and the Fondation du Patrimoine have launched a fundraising campaign to restore and open the Gabaudet-Donnadieu memorial site to the public. Located in the commune of Issendolus, the site consists of the ruins of a former farm that served as a strategic gathering point for Resistance fighters during World War II.

In June 1944, the farm was attacked and burned by a Waffen-SS detachment, resulting in the deaths of over thirty people. The rehabilitation project aims to preserve the ruins while creating a visitor path and installing historical information equipment. The goal is to transform the site into a memorial dedicated to the transmission of Resistance history while ensuring accessibility and respecting the site's historical authenticity.
