Grand Frais to acquire 32 GiFi stores amid judicial reorganization
The discount home decor retailer GiFi has entered judicial reorganization following significant financial difficulties. To address its crisis, the company has decided to sell 32 of its stores to Grand Frais.
Of the acquired locations, 17 will be operated directly by Grand Frais, including sites in cities such as Grasse, Caen, and Vitry-sur-Seine. An additional 14 stores will operate under a management mandate. The transformation process is expected to involve renovations lasting three to four months, with some openings scheduled for late 2026 or early 2027.
In addition to the sales, GiFi has permanently closed 10 points of sale. The retailer’s financial struggles are attributed to intense competition from discount chains like Action and B&M, as well as growing pressure from online platforms such as Shein and Temu.
