Grand National Assembly of Turkey achieves major recycling milestones
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has reported significant environmental achievements through its ongoing Environmental Management System, which has been in operation since 2014. Between October 1, 2025, and August 10, 2026, the institution recycled 90,654 kilograms of waste paper, a measure that prevented the cutting down of 1,541 trees.
In addition to paper recycling, the assembly's waste management efforts included the recovery of 13,667 kilograms of plastic waste, resulting in a saving of 35,643 liters of oil. The recycling program also processed 2,109 kilograms of glass and 5,442 kilograms of metal, saving 9,193 kilograms of raw materials.
The TBMM has successfully renewed its Environmental Management System certificate from the Turkish Standards Institute, valid until February 8, 2029, and has also secured a new five-year Zero Waste Certificate from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The initiative involves sorting various waste types—including organic, paper, plastic, glass, and metal—into designated bins for delivery to licensed firms.
