Grand Ouaga Urban Forum 2026 addresses Sahelian resilience

The second edition of the Grand Ouaga Urban Forum (FUGO) 2026 opened on October 7 in Ouagadougou. Organized by the community of communes of Grand Ouaga, the forum focuses on building climate and security resilience for Sahelian metropolises to ensure sustainable urban futures.

Minister of Construction Mikailou Sidibé addressed several critical challenges facing the region, including demographic pressure, land tensions, climate change, and environmental crises. He emphasized the need for collective action to foster territorial sovereignty and social cohesion. The forum's discussions are aligned with the national R.E.L.A.N.C.E 2026-2030 plan, which prioritizes security, economic transformation, and sustainable development. Participants include local authorities, public institutions, experts, and development partners aiming to turn discussions into concrete urban projects.
